MELODIES OF R D BURMAN - SARITA RAJESH

There is no denying that R D Burman is the most adored composer in hindi films. This was proved recently at a musical nite titled “ Mehbooba Mehbooba “ organised by Anmol Entertainment at Vashi’s Vishnu Bhave auditorium where music lovers gathered in large numbers to relish the great composers songs. Singers Rana Chatterjee, Sarita Rajesh, Sandeep Shah, Neha Rajpal and Sandeep paid tribute to Panchamda rendering evergreen numbers. However, the most impressive among the singers was Sarita Rajesh, who with her sweet sounding vocals and amazing range sang songs like Raina beet jaye (Amar Prem), Sapna mera toot gaya (Khel Kehl Mein), Is mod se jaate hain ( Aandhi), Piya tu ab toh aaja, Saagar kinare (Saagar), Dilbar dilse pyare (Caravan), Jaane kaise kab kahan (Shakti), O haseena zulfonwali (Teesri Manzil) and won thunderous applause from the audience. The evening also witnessed others hit numbers like Kya hua tera vada (Hum Kisise Kum Nahin), Musafir hoon yaro (Parichay), O hansini (Zehreela Insaan), Ek chatur naar (Padosan), Kehdoon tumhe (Deewar), Bangle ke peeche (Samadhi), Kuch na kaho (1942 A Love Story). Another highlight of the evening was veteran singer Narendra Bansali, who singing in Pamchamda’s voice enthralled the crowd with peppy foot-tapping songs like Mehbooba mehbooba, Piya tu, Samandar mein naha ke, Dil lena khel hai, Tum kya jano mohabbat kya hai. He literally set the crowd on fire and had them swaying. On the whole it was a great evening with the audience cheering lavishly and screaming for ‘once more’. Pamchanda you are undoubtedly the king of melody !
